Frequently Asked Security & Privacy Questions
No. All group chats and synced transactions are encrypted on your phone using AES-256 before being sent over the network. If someone opens the Firestore database in the Firebase Console, they see only unreadable ciphertext (e.g. enc:v1:qK8...). The decryption key is derived on-device and never stored on our servers.
Never. BudgetTribe does not have payment gateway or money movement licenses. When settling squad expenses, BudgetTribe simply opens your chosen banking app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm) via standard Android/iOS UPI intents. You enter your UPI PIN inside your own bank app—BudgetTribe never handles or touches the funds.
No. Our parser strictly looks for recognized bank headers (e.g., HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis) and financial debit/credit transaction patterns. Personal messages, family WhatsApp chats, and personal emails are completely ignored and never accessed or parsed.
No. Apple App Store Connect and Google Play Console only receive aggregated metrics like download counts and crash traces. Neither Apple nor Google has access to your expense records, bank accounts, or chats.
You can export all your records to CSV at any time, or tap Delete Account in Settings to immediately and permanently wipe all your data from both your local device and the cloud.
